Prejudice

Pick a topic that you feel strongly about, and write an unbiased article on it.

Prejudice has been going on for years. People being judged just based on the color of their skin, or if they are girl or boy, poor or rich, blond or ginger. Stereotypes, like asians can't drive, or gingers have no souls, or girls are weak, or blonds are dumb, can also be considered a form of prejudice.

Many people think that prejudice is bad, yet they still do it. A major example of prejudice was the holocaust, where Hitler and his men murdered thousands of innocent people, simply because of religion.

Many people have tried to stop prejudice, but in the process, they only make it worse. Black history month elevates african americans. Instead of making them equal, we are making them better. Skin color should be treated the same as hair color or eye color. I'm not saying that all people should be equal, like a nice, kind person should be treated differently than a person who is mean and horrible and hates people. If you see a white person in the street, and he has yellow and brown teeth and bloodshot eyes, you make an effort to stay away from him, and that's considered smart. You see a black person in the street, and he has yellow and brown teeth and bloodshot eyes, you make an effort to stay away from him, and all of a sudden your racist.

You see a brown-haired person who failed a test with a thirty percent, and they're are dumb. You see a blond-haired person who failed a test with a thirty percent, and people start cracking blond jokes.

A hispanic girl gets into an accident, and it was just an accident. An asian person gets into an accident, and all of a sudden it's "You idiot asian! Why were you driving?! You know you can't f%#!ing drive."

I'm not saying that the blond isn't dumb, or the asian can drive, I'm just saying it should be based on the individual person. Should they really be judged by what they look like, and every little act that's stereotypical is attributed to their category? Base people on them, not a stereotype.

Then again, some stereotypes have evidence towards them. Blond hair has been considered attractive for hundreds of years, and they were thought to have relied on looks instead of intelligence. When someone asked Marilyn Monroe why she pretended to be stupid, she replied "Because men prefer me this way." African American people used to be slaves, and were forbidden to be taught basic things like spelling their own name. Therefor, they were highly uneducated, and when they had children, they were unable to educate their children. Some stereotypes  might be true. That still doesn't mean we should expect all blonds to be dumb, or all asians to be bad drivers.
Make your own judgment on whether or not to stereotype people. Just be prepared to except the consequences.

Good and Evil

Do you believe in absolute good or evil? Are good and evil counterparts trying to balance each other out? Do good and evil have to coexist, or can one eliminate the other for once and for all?

There is an old myth about good and evil. Good and evil were represents by bulls. The evil bull was white, but it was disgusting. It had dirt caked into it's fur, and it was covered in slime, and it had spit from it's mouth going everywhere. The good one was black, but a beautiful black, like a starry night. The only power that could stop the white bull from destroying everything, was the black bull. But, if the black bull were to completely destroy the white bull, It would have nothing to do, and it would cease to exist. Then the world would have no good or evil in it, and bad things happen to a world with no good or evil.
In the bible, it says that without evil, one cannot know good. Without pain, one cannot know joy. Without dark, one cannot know light. Everything has a purpose, including evil and evil things.

Asteroid

An asteroid almost hit the earth on November 8, 2011. It was the size of an aircraft carrier, the big boats that planes land on. A similar sized asteroid was responsible for the destruction of the dinosaurs. If it had hit the earth, it would have been disastrous. It flew past Earth, coming within the orbit, and almost hit the moon. If it had hit the moon, the tides would be forever changed, and tsunamis would be hitting almost every shore there is. It would also probably effect us.
Have you ever heard someone say that full moons are when people go crazy? There is a theory that the moon has a pull over us because we are made up of mostly water. If the asteroid had hit the moon, there is no telling what would happen.
I found out today (November 15, 2011) about it. Because I knew it was already past, I didn't think it was that big of a deal. If it was, wouldn't I have heard of it before? I know it came REALLY close to hitting us, but it didn't hit us. So, what was the big deal?

The Mission of Journalism

I think that the mission of journalism is too inform people of what's going on. It's also to entertain people with comics, and to show people that they are not the only ones with the comments and complaints that they have (Op/Ed section). Journalism's mission is also to tell people about amazing sports feats, who won and lost the big game last night, etc. Many people want to know what's going on, and I know that I always go straight to the comics part of the newspaper. My mom loves to read the parts of the newspaper where people write letters to a person for advice. My dad would read the sports section every second of every day if he could.
Journalism is there to inform people. The day after the earthquake in virginia, all of the newspaper's top headlines was about the earthquake. It told everyone where the earthquake centered, what magnitude it was, and how far away it was felt. Before the hurricane, the news station and all the newspapers were covered in facts about the hurricane. Every time something happens that people need to know about, journalism is all over it.

Breach of Ethics

Let's say I, as a journalist, had to write a review of my friends restaurant. I might say that even though my friend's restaurant is
