The Mission of Journalism

I think that the mission of journalism is too inform people of what's going on. It's also to entertain people with comics, and to show people that they are not the only ones with the comments and complaints that they have (Op/Ed section). Journalism's mission is also to tell people about amazing sports feats, who won and lost the big game last night, etc. Many people want to know what's going on, and I know that I always go straight to the comics part of the newspaper. My mom loves to read the parts of the newspaper where people write letters to a person for advice. My dad would read the sports section every second of every day if he could.
Journalism is there to inform people. The day after the earthquake in virginia, all of the newspaper's top headlines was about the earthquake. It told everyone where the earthquake centered, what magnitude it was, and how far away it was felt. Before the hurricane, the news station and all the newspapers were covered in facts about the hurricane. Every time something happens that people need to know about, journalism is all over it.

Breach of Ethics

Let's say I, as a journalist, had to write a review of my friends restaurant. I might say that even though my friend's restaurant is

Lie/Truth

"A lie gets half-way around the world before the truth has a chance to get it's pants on." Write about a time this has happened in the news.

Unethical Cover

What is unethical about his cover? Why?
cheneyrobot.jpg
This cover is unethical because it says that Dick Cheney, a former vice president, is a robot. That is obviously a bogus statement. This magazine is known for reporting things like "Bigfoot Gives Birth to Alien Babies". This magazine is untrustworthy and unethical. It is called 'yellow journalism'. Another one is 'Tiger Woods Sleeps with Alien'. When you start getting into personal lives of people, it's horrible. It's just not right. If it's not completely bogus and easy to tell if it's fake or not, and it's about a person and could be hurtful, then it is completely uenhical.

Is Internet a Human Right?

Everyone who is reading this has been on the Internet. Mainly because you are on the Internet right now, in order to be reading this. But, we take it for granted. Internet is a human right? I think not.
You may go on the Internet all the time, whenever you want. But some people aren't aloud on the Internet. I'm not talking about your parents grounding you or anything like that. Certain types of criminals, like hackers, are not legally aloud to go on the Internet.

Willow the Lost Cat and her Amazing Journey

A cute calico cat, named Willow, disappeared from her home in Colorado in late 2006 or early 2007. Her owners thought that she had been eaten, either by coyotes or owls. She was found, five years later, 1800 miles away in New York. So, how did willow travel this far, and end up in such good condition? That is what we're going to find out!
Willow left her house when a contractor left the door open. She then jumped onto the contractor's vehicle, and traveled on that for a while. When the vehicle stopped, she jumped off and walked a short distance. She noticed a car on the side of the road with the door open. The elderly couple that owns the car were outside, arguing about gas. Willow jumped in the car and hid under the seat. She stayed there until they got to the couple's house. Upon arrival, the couple discovered her and shooed her away. She continued walking and sneaking on and in trucks and cars. When she was hungry, she would follow other cats back to their house and steal their food. Once, she got cornered by dogs, but a nice old lady stopped the dogs and rescued Willow. When the old lady didn't find a collar on Willow, she assumed it was a stray and took her in. She fed Willow, bathed Willow, and took care of her. A few months later, The old lady moved to New York. She took Willow with her. But, in New York, the old lady got older and older. Eventually, she died. No one thought about the old lady's cat, Willow. So, once again, Willow took to the streets. Until, that is, a man found her and took her to the pet shelter.
At the pet shelter, They discovered she had a chip in her shoulder. Using the chip, they traced back Willow's origins and rightful owner. She was returned to her home, five years after she left it. Since she left, the two kids living in her house turned to three, and the one dog turned to two.

CURE FOR CANCER!!! (Note: Not Real)

On July 3, 2012, Dr. Janet Leinenburg, of the Smithsonian, discovered the cure to cancer. A dog who had cancer was brought to her lab for her to try and cure. You see, this dog was Fluffy, the wonder dog. He made his owner millions of dollars richer, but now he had fallen ill. So Fluffy was brought in.
Dr. Leinenburg was using isotopes to give cancer to ants to see how they reacted, and Fluffy was chowing down on Physiochloric acid, because it's harmless and might have been the cure. Dr. Leinenburg accidentally spilled some isotopes in the physiochloric acid, and Fluffy ate it unknowingly. Seventeen days later, he was scanned, and the cancer lump was smaller. He was fed more of the mixture, and by the next month, he was cured.
Dr. Leinenburg has been studying cancer treatment ever since her husband fell ill and died from cancer. She has worked long and hard for this cure, and deserves all the fame and fortune she has gotten. Her only regret is that she did not discover it sooner. Thousands of people are diagnosed with cancer every year, and many of them do not make it. this treatment cures cancer anywhere in the body, except for. in your toes or feet. in that case, amputation would be the best route. So spread the word! Cancer treatment is very cheap and accessible, so nobody will ever die from this disease again!

Sorry to everyone who reads this and is offended by anything in here. This was a class assignment, not a practical joke or anything.
